Olawale Ojo: ASUU Made Me Take Part and Win Project Fame

Olawale Ayodele Ojo, winner of the MTN Project Fame (Season 6), tells BAYO ADETU about his experience in the competition and other issues

Q: Shortly after you were announced winner of the MTN project Fame, you said your mind was still blank to express how you felt. It is about 48 hours now, so how are you feeling?

A:I feel blessed. I feel that everything around just worked for me this season because I didn’t really expect to come out as the winner this season. It’s about God because I don’t believe there is something I did that others didn’t do. It was the grace of God and the people that voted for me. I’m really grateful to all the people that believed in me and voted. I wouldn’t have won without them. Basically, I feel this is God’s grace because at a point in the competition, I was almost evicted, so when you look at everything from beginning to the end, you will realise that it is God’s grace.
Q:If you didn’t envisage winning the competition, what was your plan when you registered to participate at the auditions?

Mark Zuckerberg Buys Neighbouring Houses For Privacy

Facebook's billionaire founder bought four homes surrounding his current home near Palo Alto, Mercury News reports. The houses cost him more than $30 million, including one 2,600 square-foot home that cost $14 million. (His own home is twice as large at 5,000 square-feet and cost half as much.)

Larry Page made a similar move a few years ago so he could build a massive, 6,000-square-foot mansion. But Zuckerberg's reason is different. He doesn't want to live in excess, he just wants a little privacy.

I can’t understand why my father married 27 wives – Femi Kuti

The 2013 edition of Felabration,a week-long concert which celebrates the life and times of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti commences from Monday, October 14 through 20 at the Afrikan Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos. In this interview,  Femi Kuti, the eldest son of Fela went down memory lane, recounting the story of his late father, his music  and ideologies. He also talks about what the fans of Afrobeat music will expect at this year’s Felabration among other issues.

Felabration
We learnt that Rita Marley will be headlining this year’s Felabration. Why is she not here today?
She sent a message few days ago that she was not feeling fine, and might not make it to the event. However, she will be represented at the festival by the head of  her foundation, Rita Marley Foundation.

What’s the financial implication of organising this festival?
We have no major sponsors at the moment. Fortunately, most of the artistes are performing for free. We have been very lucky that the likes of King Sunny Ade, D’banj, Wizkid, Pasuma, and many others, have been performing for free. This year, they will grace the stage again. But we usually pay a token to the up and coming artistes as a way of supporting them. However, Nigerian Breweries Plc  has promised to come on board next year as a major sponsor of the event. We are hoping that as from next year, Felabration will not be talking about financial difficulties.

Controversial Boko Haram Movie Debuts!

A vicious would-be suicide bomber is heading for Nigeria’s vast metropolis of Lagos and only a down-on-her-luck prostitute can stop a horrific attack.

This ominous fiction forms part of “Boko Haram”, a new film by Ghanaian-Nigeria director Pascal Amanfo, which has been banned by censors in Ghana and shunned by cinema owners in Nigeria.
A movie inspired by the very real and brutal Islamist group active in Nigeria was potentially so inflammatory that it was released in the country with the title “Nation Under Siege” to avoid a backlash.

10 Things You Never Knew about Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa is a Rhythm 93.7 radio presenter, and she was profiled on the ThisDay Sunday newspaper where she revealed ten things about herself, some of which I found quite interesting. I also saw her interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and I think I'm beginning to like her. She shows this self-awareness that comes with maturity, and she can laugh at herself too. Enjoy the interview below. I also suffered the short-girl syndrome when I was younger, I think I'm mostly over it now, lol...

• “I suffer from short-man syndrome. A lot of people think I’m snobbish, or I’m a rude person. But it’s just us short people we always think people want to take us for granted because of our height. So I’d rather cut you off before that happens.”

PA KASUMU Needs N12 Million To Stay Alive

His face is very well-known to millions of Nigerians, especially for those who are hopelessly addicted to Yoruba films (like me). However, this is not the best of times for a man who has put smiles on the faces of many Nigerians over the years. He is dying.
Olukayode Odumosu, better known as Pa Kasumu is battling life-threatening condition that has affected his heart and liver. Presently, he is receiving treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for ‘secondary prevention of repeat stroke’ because he once suffereda stroke but bounced back. To cut long story short, he needs a sum of N12 million (that’s still less than the salary of our lawmakers) to stay alive.

BlackBerry says its “teams are working non-stop” to fix the botched BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for Android and iPhone launch that was scheduled last weekend. “We will provide you an update on timing as soon as we can,” says the latest tweet on the official BBM Twitter account (@BBM).
The much-awaited global rollout of BlackBerry’s BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) app for Android and iPhone was stopped by BlackBerry citing technical issues. After more than 12 hours of BBM for Android’s scheduled availability time, Inside BlackBerry, the official BlackBerry blog, put the blame for the delay on “an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app” that was posted online. According to BlackBerry, “more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app.”
